What format can I get my book in?

​

Distinction Publishing House™ currently publishes all books in softcover format. Hardbound and audiobook options are available at additional costs. You have the choice to have your softcover formatted with a matte or glossy exterior. Whether you choose a black and white or colour interior, your book is made from high-quality materials from cover to cover!

What is an ISBN and BEAN?

​

ISBN (International Standard Book Number) and Bookland EAN Barcode: An ISBN is a 10-digit number assigned to every publication, recording details such as language, author, and publisher. Each project (i.e., softcover, eBook, hardbound, audiobook) is assigned its own ISBN. An ISBN is not optional when distributing published works online and in stores. Booksellers prefer to use a machine-readable or scannable version of the ISBN in their systems’ processing. The Bookland EAN Barcode is the most widely-used barcode format in the publishing industry, as it encodes the ISBN and may also include the retail price. Distinction Publishing House™ will provide ISBNs and BEANs for each format published.

What about editing?

Distinction Publishing House, LLC works closely with each author to ensure his or her written work is the absolute best product being placed before the public. The author’s “voice” remains true as our editing team works tirelessly to edit and revise your work for flow, grammar, transitions, and more—one line at a time.

Do you distribute my book too?

​

Worldwide Book Distribution: Available only with the Gold and  Platinum Packages, worldwide book distribution allows for your book to be ordered by and delivered to customers in other areas of the world, such as (but not limited to) the United Kingdom, Australia, and France through the leading book wholesaler in the United States. Subject to specific channel limitations, titles will be made available for sale on online bookstores, such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Walmart. As well, your title may be picked up by other resellers (brick-and-mortar stores) who purchase their stock from IngramSpark’s Books in Print Database.

Will I see the book before it is finalized?

​

Complimentary Author Proof and Author Copy: During the production process, you will receive and review one (1) FREE softcover copy of your book. The immense feeling of JOY you will gain from holding YOUR fully-published book in your hands is indescribable!

What is a LCCN?

​

Library of Congress Control Number (LCCN): With an LCCN through Distinction Publishing House, LLC, your book will be registered and linked to the United States Library of Congress, libraries throughout the United States, bibliographic utilities, and other book vendors. An LCCN is a unique identifier that assists with cataloguing data, which the Library of Congress and third parties make available on the Web and through other media sources.

Will you copyright my book?

​

Registering your written work with the U.S. Copyright Office provides a public record of your ownership of your literary work. Distinction Publishing House, LLC will complete and submit the necessary documentation to the U.S. Copyright Office along with a final copy of your book. 

Upon completion of registration, you will receive an official certificate that verifies your book’s coverage under U.S. copyright laws and regulations. ➢ Copyright fulfilment timeline –  Copyright forms are completed and sent to the U.S. Copyright Office with a copy of the final version of your book. 

Ranging anywhere from 12 – 18 months after submission (could be longer due to the influx of applications), you will receive printed notification of the completed process in the form of a Certificate of Registration. Distinction Publishing House, LLC will maintain a copy of the record in their office. Copyright will be exclusively in the author’s name.

 

Is Book Cover Design included?

Distinction Publishing House, LLC employs a Graphic Artist who designs industry-coveted cover art for our authors. We bring your vision to life! If you are unsure or have no idea what would best suit your specific cover, our Graphic Artist will work relentlessly to provide you with cover art that best depicts your title and book’s purpose. Some interiors require colour artwork, while the vast majority are black and white print only. The choice is yours! It must be noted that there are additional costs associated with printing colour images on your interior that are passed on to the end-user (your audience), so be sure to choose the option best suited for your vision!

Do you format and publish in eBook too?

​

Don’t stop at a print edition of your book: Go digital! eBooks are a very popular and convenient source for the end-user. Distinction Publishing House, LLC will help you reach a wide audience by formatting your book for the most commonly-used electronic reading devices. Each ePub service requires a specific format, and we know how to get it done! Gain recognition by making your book available with an online presence! NOTE: Distinction Publishing House, LLC makes every reasonable effort to ensure the formatting of the digital version reflects the format of the print edition of your book; however, some design elements are not supported (i.e., eReaders that do not support colour images or “odd” font styles).

What is Image Insertion?

​

Image Insertion: It is said that a picture speaks a thousand words. Some written works are accentuated with the effective use of imagery. Depending on the package you choose, you will receive a limited number of FREE final versions of your softcover book to distribute to family, friends, your local library, or whatever you opt to do with them. If you desire any additional copies above the FREE ones, you will purchase them at wholesale cost (plus tax, shipping/handling, and a 5% administrative fee). The wholesale cost is determined by the distributor and varies according to factors such as page length, size of publication, and interior design choice. Choose, properly formatted images in either black and white or colour to add the impact you intend to capture your audience! NOTE: Only attribution-free images or those with written copyright permission from the creator (i.e., artist, photographer, etc.) are welcomed to be used in your work. Copy/paste from Google or any other online search engine will be permitted without the permission above. Think about it: You wouldn’t want YOUR written works used without permission (that’s called Copyright Infringement and applies to images, too)!

How do I get prints of my book?

What are the Book Promotional Materials?

​

Promotional Materials / Rack Cards OR Postcards: All packages include FULLY-CUSTOMIZED promotional materials to distribute. Available options are Rack Cards (3” x 8”, one-sided, glossy) or Postcards (4” x 6”, one-sided, matte). Promote your book wherever you go with these handy promotional tools!

Distinction Publishing House™ Podcast will host a 10-minute interview with signed authors after their books have been released for distribution. This is an opportunity to share your inspiration for writing and so much more with a PHENOMENAL host— and, of course, to PROMOTE yourself and potentially gain a new following! NOTE: Interviews will be scheduled within one month after the book’s official release.

Do I need a website?

Distinction Publishing House™ will provide the author with a one-page landing page to capture individual sales and to grow YOUR email list for future campaigns for ongoing self-marketing.

What if I need help writing?

​

60-Minute One-on-One Literary Coaching Session: Available with the Rhodium Package only, spend a total of 60 minutes speaking one-on-one via phone, Skype, or Google Hangout with the Chief Editorial Director of Distinction Publishing, LLC! Take your writing to the next level as you are expertly guided through the writing process. Whether you’re a new author or a seasoned pro, there’s something for you to learn that will sharpen your writing skills—and your reading audience will appreciate that you took the initiative! (Sessions may also be done in 15 – 20-minute increments.)
